Axolotl brain scans! in 3d

Researchers studying the olm, a blind, cave dwelling salamander with similarities to the axolotl, scanned the brains of axolotl in order to compare results to the brain scans of the olm.

The scientists goal is to find out how the olm is able to see in the dark.
